Why it is worth it

What you actually gain

A working tool, not a formality: you use it directly with lenders, authorities and buyers of the project.

A stronger financing application

Supports eligibility in calls under the PNRR (Romania's National Recovery and Resilience Plan), the Modernisation Fund, InvestEU, the EIB and the EBRD, with a documented ESG assessment you attach directly to the application.

Faster through due diligence

The assessment of the degree of alignment with the EU Taxonomy and the DNSH principles is ready for the data room, so you answer the lender's questions before they are asked.

Better value on sale or refinancing

Funds and institutional buyers increasingly ask for an ESG profile verified by an independent third party. It is an asset at exit or when raising capital.

An asset in tenders and PPAs

An objective argument, verifiable in the ARSC ESG Register, in procedures and negotiations with sustainability criteria, from off-takers to authorities.

Overview

What this certification is

Sustainable Energy Project Certification is the independent assessment in which ARSC analyses and validates the sustainability, governance and social impact performance of a renewable energy investment: from solar and wind farms to battery energy storage systems (BESS), hydrogen and energy efficiency projects.

The methodology was developed with reference to Romania's National Sustainable Development Strategy 2030 (SNDDR 2030) and to EU Regulation 2020/852 on the taxonomy of sustainable investments. Instead of a general "green project" statement, you receive a scored assessment of the degree to which the project meets ESG principles and the Do No Significant Harm (DNSH) criteria: exactly the kind of documented evidence that European and private lenders ask for.

ℹ
This is a voluntary certification based on ARSC's own methodology. It does not replace a regulated audit or CSRD reporting, but it supports your documentation and eligibility in those processes.
How the assessment is structured

What we assess: 20 indicators across 3 pillars

Each indicator is scored on the basis of the project documents. The total gives a score out of 100 points and a certification level.

E - Environmental

40 pts · 10 ind.

Real environmental impact across the whole life cycle.

  • Life cycle assessment (LCA) and carbon footprint
  • Energy efficiency of the installation
  • Environmental and waste management plan
  • Decommissioning and land rehabilitation plan
  • Adherence to the DNSH (do no significant harm) principle
  • Sustainable use of resources and legal compliance
  • Green innovation / circular economy

S - Social

30 pts · 6 ind.

The project's relationship with people and the surrounding community.

  • Occupational health and safety
  • Equal opportunities and diversity
  • Community engagement and public consultation
  • Local social impact (jobs)
  • Ethical supply chain (supply chain ESG)
  • Feedback and grievance mechanism

G - Governance

30 pts · 4 ind.

How the project is run and controlled.

  • Clear structure of ESG responsibilities
  • Code of ethics and anti-corruption policies
  • Financial and contractual transparency
  • Periodic ESG monitoring, reporting and audit
Step by step

How it works

1

You send us the project

Type, installed capacity (MW) or storage capacity (MWh) and location. We send you a cost estimate within 24 working hours.

2

We assess the documentation

We analyse the project against the 20 E/S/G indicators and set the score and certification level, with conclusions for each pillar.

3

You receive the certificate

A certificate valid for 12 months, plus the assessment report and a listing in the ARSC ESG Register, which anyone can check.

Transparent pricing

What it costs

The price is calculated per MW installed or per MWh of capacity, and it falls as the project gets larger. We confirm the final price in a personalised offer.

A. Solar, wind and hydro plants

CategoryInstalled capacityESG price / MW
Micro< 2 MW€1,200 / MW
Small2-10 MW€950 / MW
Medium10-20 MW€800 / MW
Large20-50 MW€650 / MW
Major50-100 MW€440 / MW
Strategic> 100 MW€350 / MW

B. Energy storage (BESS)

CategoryCapacityESG price / MWh
Micro< 2 MWh€950 / MWh
Small2-10 MWh€800 / MWh
Medium10-20 MWh€720 / MWh
Large20-50 MWh€650 / MWh
Major50-100 MWh€540 / MWh
Strategic> 100 MWh€450 / MWh

Hybrid PV + BESS projects

For projects that combine generation and storage, the two prices are added together:
Total cost = (PV price × MW) + (BESS price × MWh)

Example: a 20 MW plant + 10 MWh of storage → (20 × 800) + (10 × 800) = 16,000 + 8,000 = €24,000

Factors that adjust the base price

Depending on the specifics of the project, the base price may go up or down. We always confirm it in the personalised offer.

The certificate is valid for 12 months, as with the standard ESG certification. When it expires, the assessment is repeated, and the cost of renewal is set out in the offer before the process starts again.
